Library to close at 2:30 PM Fridays, closed on Saturdays.
Starting December 5th, 2008 the library will close at 2:30 PM on Fridays and will not be open on Saturdays.
Until now, the library has closed at 4:00 PM on Fridays and was open from 12:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturdays. Due to very low traffic (and to save a bit of money) we have decided to close down with the rest of the campus on Fridays at 2:30 PM and eliminate the Saturday hours altogether.
The library will remain open on Sundays from 1:00 to 8:00 PM for students who need weekend access.

That's ridiculous! You should stay open LATER on Fridays! There have been numerous times that I've needed to get into the library on friday afternoons but it's been closed. Is this a COLLEGE? or a BUSINESS? I'm thinking the latter.

So much
a). for my tuition applied to availability of the library. Did the adminstrators take a pay cut, too, I wonder?
b). for the concept of public service
Restore your integrity: restore your hours.

It's nice to see that there are library patrons out there who care! Thanks for your comments.
The truth is that due to decisions at the state level NIC was forced to relinquish portions of it's budget. Each campus department was compelled to make sacrifices. In our case, we chose the times of lowest traffic and cut those hours to save money. This seemed better than impacting library materials purchases and staff paychecks.
It's hard times for everyone out there. Please call your local elected officials and express your feelings about education cutbacks to solve state budget shortfalls.
Thanks again.
